Design in VR recently delivered an inspiring and hands-on Virtual Reality workshop for the Access and Participation Team at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). The session was designed specifically for young people who may have less access to emerging technologies than their peers, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the power of immersive design.
Throughout the workshop, participants stepped into VR to sketch in 3D, shape digital objects, and collaborate in virtual spaces—many experiencing this technology for the very first time. The aim was to demystify VR and show how accessible and exciting it can be, especially for those curious about creative careers.
It was a powerful reminder that immersive tools aren’t just for gaming—they're opening up new paths in design, architecture, media, and beyond. The workshop highlighted how students can begin learning these skills now, no matter their background.
Design in VR is proud to support initiatives that promote equal access to technology, and to help young people imagine a future where they can be both creators and innovators.
